At Seventh & James, adults will find opportunities to grow spiritually, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and join with others as we grow in faith. We also long to see people connecting with one another in deep friendships that last years. C.S. Lewis once keenly observed this about the origins of friendships: “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’”

Adult Sunday School Classes

Sunday School classes begin at 9:45.  We invite and encourage you to visit several classes and then choose one that you find interesting, affirming, and challenging!

Lectio Divina - Blake Burleson and Jim Kennedy
Looking to include meditation and silence in the study of scripture? Want to employ artistic expression in exploring the biblical text? Have you considered non-canonical scriptures alongside the canonical scriptures as a learning exercise?

The Roundtable Class
Looking for an in-depth, close reading of entire Biblical books in their historical context? The Roundtable Class selects a Biblical book, either Old or New Testament, and then reads it together and discusses it in depth over many weeks (or months). Ann McGlashan moderates the discussion, and Lynn Tatum (Ph.D. Bible) serves as a resource on the historical background. Class participants are encouraged to contribute insights from their own lives or interests—be prepared for a few “rabbit holes” on the journey.
